Clarity Aged Care Advisors – Helping Families Care for Their Own

Clarity Aged Care shares the inspiration behind the rebranding of their service that helps people navigate aged care.

A new chapter: Clarity Aged Care Advisors

For the past decade, Joseph Palmer & Sons has been a trusted source of Aged Care advice. Families navigating the complexities of moving their loved one into care have turned to them for guidance, assistance and financial clarity. As of January 1, they have launched an exciting new chapter – their aged care advisory service has rebranded to Clarity Aged Care Advisors, to reflect what they provide: clarity.

“While our name is changing, our mission remains the same: to provide families with expert advice and guidance during one of life’s most challenging transitions. We understand the emotions, stress and financial uncertainty that comes with moving a loved one into care. Our goal has always been to lift that burden and offer a clear path forward,” said director Rodney Horin.

A legacy of care and expertise

This journey began with a deeply personal experience. When Rodney Horin transitioned his own  mother into aged care, he found himself overwhelmed by the financial and logistical challenges of the system. Despite his background in law and finance, he quickly realised that understanding aged care terminology, government entitlements, and fee structures was a daunting task.

Rodney’s experience convinced him that there must be tens of thousands of Australians overpaying to enter aged care each year and continuing to overpay on a monthly basis. That pivotal moment led him to add an aged care advisory service to his existing investment management business at Joseph Palmer & Sons.

“What started as a personal mission soon became a calling – helping thousands of families, many within our community, make informed, confident financial decisions regarding aged care,” Rodney Horin shared.

Why Clarity Aged Care Advisors?

After 10 years of solid growth, and with family now joining the business, it became clear that the aged care division deserved its own identity – one that reflects its expertise, compassion and unwavering commitment to helping families. Rodney’s children have now all joined with son Michael driving the business’ growth and daughters Melanie and Kate offering their respective skillsets.

Aged care can feel like a maze of complex terms, endless paperwork and financial unknowns. Terms like RAD, DAP, DAC, RAC, means-tested fees and Centrelink assessments can be confusing and stressful.

“At Clarity Aged Care Advisors, we break it all down, offering clear, stepby- step guidance and financial solutions tailored to each family’s unique circumstances,” director Michael Horin remarked.

What Clarity Aged Care offers

The process is designed to remove financial complexity and provide peace of mind. Clarity Aged Care provides financial modelling of the various options available to determine the most cost-effective way to fund aged care, minimise fees and maximise government entitlements.

Whether it’s understanding the best way to pay for a RAD (bond), structuring assets to preserve an aged pension, or guidance on complex Centrelink forms, they handle the details so families can focus on what truly matters – the wellbeing of their loved ones.

“A common refrain we share with our clients is: ‘You focus on caring for your parents; let us take care of the rest.’ The relief in their voices when they realise they don’t have to navigate this process alone is what drives us every day,” says Rodney Horin.

With the introduction of the new Aged Care Act from July 1, 2025, navigating aged care has become even more complex. The reforms bring significant changes to funding models and means testing, making it crucial for families to understand how these updates impact their financial decisions. On average, residents entering care after July 1 will be paying $30k to $50k more per year for their care compared to entering before the new reforms are enacted. Now more than ever, professional aged care advice ensures that loved ones receive the best care possible while preserving financial security.

Looking ahead

The new brand represents growth, purpose and dedication to what they do best. “We remain deeply committed to serving the community and will continue to provide the trusted advice that so many have relied on over the years,” Rodney Horin said.

“To those who have trusted us on this journey – thank you. Your stories, challenges and  successes have shaped who we are today. As Clarity Aged Care Advisors, we look forward to continuing to serve families with the same expertise, care and commitment that have been the foundation of our service from the very beginning.”
